The flower bed in the front of the house is literally buzzing. Melody reported a cloud of insects exploded from the flower bed when she walked down the walk the other day. The kids are fascinated with all of the bugs. The flowers keep them busy and we stay sting-free while we observe close up. They asked if we could take a video of an orange butterfly they were fond of. It was a Gulf Frittilary and it was so beautiful.

I don't know about you, but I needed a good dose of orange.

Summer shots of plants when I am in the middle of winter make me feel SO HAPPY.
Sigh.
Thanks.
Miss Smith - I do understand your pain. I was SO jealous at Christmas when all of New Zealand was awash in Summer. It's actually been MUCH cooler here in the evenings...somewhere in the low to mid 60's and that's been the best of both worlds.
I love those purple coneflowers. And that is where all the bugs seemed to be congregating.
You are an artist in the garden.
Mel - Don't go near the mint! It's been over taken by little wasp-like insects that look like yellow jackets with reversed coloring. They look badder 'un hell.
Nana's Lady - You are too sweet to me.
I love the title of this post. It makes me laugh every time I read it.
Kim- Oh, I love the word proboscis. I should've gone into entymology. Did you know that even an elephant's trunk is refer to as a proboscis?
