Christmas Crochet

My lovely friend, April, made me the lumberjack hat with beard!
You can't begin to know how excited I am about it!

Leah gave me a soap saver and some
cinnamon soap made with organic oils from Freaky Farms.

Smells like heaven in my bathroom.

And even though they don't belong to me,
I enjoyed the TNMT's crocheted by Joe's cousin.
They graced the tablescape on Christmas day.
They wore their shells like little backpacks.

I feel lucky to have such talented friends and family.

Rubbing

We did a little gravestone rubbing at a local cemetery yesterday. The kids were very excited about it. The weather was a little ominous but it didn't stop us!

Sam immersed himself in the task at hand. There was no stopping him. He needed to make "a very good rubbing" and nothing would come between him and his art.

Zoe wasn't nearly as taken with the activity and split off to pick many little yellow flowers.

The finished product wasn't too bad. We'll try again when there is no wind and we have better supplies. We'll stay out of the ants next time too.

Are Bunnies Narcissists?

Sam called his bunny ears "sleek". He said, "Aren't these some sleek ears?" And I answered with, "Heck, yeah! They ARE sweet!" He corrected me twice. Bless his ears and mine!

Adornment

A little henna for my friend's wedding. I thought it turned out very pretty but not very delicate. I need to work on the delicacy of my designs. Not everyone cares for a heavy hand, you know.

E-I-E-I-OOOoooo

We're working on a mural for a new organic grocery store. It is to be a farm scene on the right over the meat dept and oceanscape over the seafood dept on the left. Only the left wall still remains to be seen. This is Leah's baby. I'm her assistant on this one. It's been fun. I got hazard pay (in beer) that first day too. The skyjack didn't work so Leah made that sturdy homemade scaffolding for us. Mmmhmmm. She tried to reassure me by dancing atop it. It didn't help. I crawled in abject terror for the first hour. Or at least until the beer kicked in.

So, I'm doing a little painting.
That's nice.

Santa Sugar Magic

We decorated cookies on Christmas Eve.
It's a tradition.

We never eat them.
We give them to Santa.

I should get a tray to set them on.
Santa's not a dog.
Right?

Sam passed out early from holiday cheer so Zoe chose Santa and Mrs. Claus.

I thought she looked more like his mistress.
But whatever. Santa's not a dog!

Right?

Zoe says (in her best fairy voice) Santa is a maaaaaaagical creature
who does not poop or die.

I think she may be right.

Of all the folks I can think of, Santa seems to run the highest
risk of developing Type II Diabetes.

Yet he doesn't.

Amazing.
