Lordy, Lordy, Someone's Forty!
We attended a surprise party for my brother-in-law's fortieth birthday this evening. I really enjoyed it. The weather was perfect and after a few glasses of Chateau Elan wine, I was feeling no (stomach, rectal and/or gallbladder) pain. The kids all played in a huge pile of dirt that was equipped with not only roads and dump trucks but shovels and earth movers. They were full of cake and covered in dirt when we left. On the way home, Sam sighed, looked out the window and said he sure was going to miss that dirt pile. I wondered if everyone turning forty looks back on their thirties just as wistfully.
