Winos And Roses

Joe's parents will celebrate their 41st wedding anniversary on the 16th so we thought it would be fun to do something with them for Valentines Day. I made reservations at Victoria Belle Mansion in Hogansville through a fundraiser for downtown development. It was our first visit to the mansion and we really had a great time with Joe's parents. My camera refused to take a picture of the place so I "borrowed" this image from their webpage.

It was decorated beautifully with roses and feathers and beads. It had a bordello feel, not that I've ever had the pleasure of feeling a bordello.... They also had fountains and reflecting pools and a baby grand piano and porches and hardwood floors and lots of twinkly lights. Ma-in-law plied us with drink when we picked them up and then Joe hit the bar when we arrived. (note: Before you try to turn us in, Pa-in-law was the DD) We were soon giddy and ready for the meal. They served both beef and chicken and the food was delicious. After dinner, we had a brief tour of the grounds and watched a wedding in progress before going home.

When we dropped them off, they invited us in to show off Pa-in-law's anniversary present, a Wii. While the men cursed in front of us, swinging their arms all willy-nilly and looking like a couple of idiots, we ladies finished off the rest of the German wine. Joe's parents are the coolest and I love them. I hope they enjoyed themselves.

Folks act so stupid about celebrating Valentines Day. They're too tough, too sensitive, too rough or too cool to acknowledge it as a holiday. It's a lot like attending church or Pap smears, take part if you want and don't if you don't. But just shut up about it already!

Now back to the love...

Glad you enjoyed yourselves at the mansion. Did Joe actually eat??? Tad and Shannon also have a Wii. Much cursing and flailing also happened at their house the first time I tried it out.

I think that you and Joe are turning into his parents (fact: that's a compliment). I thought that last picture was of you two. I had to blow it up to tell.
Your Valentine's Day dinner sounded delightful.
Hey, Melodious, see if you can "borrow" that Wii and bring it over to Joe and Kim's for a Wii Off! It'd be awesome!!!

Do you really call them Ma and Pa? I love it. I don't know anyone who says that around here. I'm full of wonderful envy about the mansion. I would have loved being there. So twinkly and magical. Valentines Day is an amazing holiday. Keep up the all out celebration! I love that last picture of ma and pa in-law hugging.

The funny thing is Joe calls MY parents Ma and Pa. He always has and doesn't plan to stop. I refer to his parents like that but never to their faces. I call them by their first names.

It WAS pretty twinkly and magical.
