We embrace all oddities here at The Calmpound so we were very pleased to see the plain old Coneflower doing something different this year.
Seems Mother Nature started thinking out of the box a bit...
I can't get enough of these little anomalous purple blooms!

That is really bizarre and more than a little disturbing...
A botanical mystery, indeed.
Oh cool. I love those wee throwbacks that sprout out every now and then. I saw a fantastic one on a pelargonium once, most of the plant had bright red flowers but one branch had flowers that were pure white.
