My friend, Ed, gave me a call yesterday. I sent him a text about the sink leaking last week but he didn't know anything about it. It must have been intercepted by secret agents. As it turns out, he was "just checkin' in, ma'am." Thank the universe for small favors because after we caught up on some things, he walked me through a checklist concerning baskets and tail pieces and p-traps. When my incompetence became clear, he decided to come over and check it himself.
He did and first thing he found the p-trap to have three large drinking straws in it. Zoe was enraptured by the process of dismantling the sink. She has just started to really warm up to Ed. But now that she has, they are forging a new and special relationship. Ed has been my close friend for exactly twenty years now and it's especially heartwarming to me to see him sweetly chatting with my daughter.
Anyway, he found my basket to be "loosey-goosey" and my o-ring to be busted and travelled off to the home improvement store for some plumbing accessories. While he was gone, my only job was to "knock all of those chunks and bits of debris from the basket" and I did a fine job of cleaning it and cutting my finger in the process. Wooooo, Me!
Neither Joe nor I know anything about plumbing but we offered both assistance and moral support to Ed and we learned a thing or two! And when the bad business was taken care of, we sat down to a big dinner of BBQ pork chops, peas, greens, kohlrabi, rice and (imaginary) cornbread. I didn't make cornbread because of the lack of water and the men in the floor under my feet and the close proximity to the oven. I was also afraid of roasting Ed right out from under the cabinet but when he said he hasn't had cornbread in years, I regretted not making some for him.
There's always next time! And he'll be back soon enough to begin construction on my pergola off the patio. I've begun to refer to it as The Gateway To The Backyard. Stay tuned for that installment. It should be a doosie!

I'm making cornbread tonight as a matter of fact. Do you think Ed would come all the way down here to eat some and oh yes, by the way, see why my shower keeps clogging up?
Ms. Moon - I daresay for you, he would. His mother lives somewhere in Florida, I think. Maybe I could arrange a chance meeting with your shower?
Isn't it so nice to have a handy friend. Man, I seriously want to come to dinner and eat some of that BBQ and fresh veggies.
Between you and Nana's lady, my mouth is always watering!
It IS nice to have a handy friend! And I love to feed our friends! And I'd feed you, too, if I ever got a chance.
Nana's lady gets to prepare much more exotic meals than I. Her family eats their fruits and veggies!
